San Antonio Attractions
Every city has its fun, funky sites, and San Antonio has tons! Here’s just a small sampling of what makes the River City unique.
Fiesta - In 1891, a group of ladies decorated their carriages and paraded in front of the Alamo, pelting each other with flower blossoms. The original Battle of Flowers parade sparked the beginning of Fiesta, 10 days of celebrating the history, culture and fun of San Antonio. There are more than 100 official Fiesta events, none to be missed!
The River Walk - The second thing that comes to mind is The River Walk. Take a few moments to stroll along with winding San Antonio River’s shady banks, just below the heart of downtown. The River Walk is lined with restaurants, shops and gorgeous photo ops.
The Alamo – If you ask anyone the first thing that comes to mind when they hear San Antonio, chances are, they say “The Alamo!” Learn more about this most famous of historic San Antonio sites.
San Antonio Missions Trail – San Antonio’s history goes back to 1718 when Franciscan and Spanish representatives built the first mission. Today, you can visit five missions along the San Antonio River and learn more about the history of our great city.
Hemisfair Park – Hemisfair Park was built in 1968 to host the World’s Fair. The rest is, well, living history. Today, Hemisfair Park is home to a wonderful children’s park, the Institute for Texan Cultures and so much more.
Tower of the Americas – Towering high above Hemisfair Park is the Tower of the Americas. Built as a spectacular centerpiece for the World’s Fair in 1968, the Tower is now home to an observation deck, 4-D theatre and upscale restaurant.
Market Square – El Mercado was the center of old San Antonio, and today’s it’s still the center of fun in downtown. Here you’ll find small shops, street vendors, constant entertainment and, of course, delicious dining. Market Square is home to Mi Tierra, possibly the most famous of San Antonio restaurants.
King William District – Put on your walking shoes and take a self-guided stroll through one of San Antonio’s most gorgeous neighborhoods. The King William District is located just south of downtown and was the first historic district in Texas. During Fiesta, the King William Association hosts the King William Fair celebrating the area’s history and fun-loving lifestyle.
